PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an antimicrobial paper having excellent antimicrobial activity by applying a treating liquid containing oxolinic acid (salt) as an active ingredient to paper or immersing the paper into the treating liquid or printing the paper with printing ink to which oxolinic acid (salt) is added. SOLUTION: An aqueous solution of sodium oxolinate is internally added to pulp slurry in paper making or applied to paper in size pressing to provide the objective antimicrobial paper or an emulsion or a suspension containing oxolinic acid (salt) is applied to paper or paper is immersed into the emulsion or suspension or oxolinic acid (salt) is added to printing ink and then paper is printed with the printing ink to provide the objective antimicrobial paper.
