PURPOSE:To improve a discharge pumped laser device in efficiency by a method wherein a current return conductor is arranged on the side face of a cooling vessel where a thyratron is provided. CONSTITUTION:When a thyratron 4 is turned ON, the change stored in a storage capacitor 3 is started transferring to a peaking capacitor 5, and a return light is made to return to the thyratron 4 from the ground potential terminal of the peaking capacitor 5 passing through a laser chamber 7 and a current return conductive plate 12. At this point, as the current return plate 12 is provided to the side face of a thyratron cooling vessel 9, the area A of a part between the current return conductive plate 12 and a cover 6 is independent of the structural inductance L of this closed loop. Therefore, a voltage V2 between the ends of the peaking capacitor 5 can be enhanced in rise by decreasing this structural inductance L. By this setup, a gas laser device of high efficiency, where a structural inductance contained in a circuit for discharge-pumping is small, can be obtained. |
