摘要 <p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To shut off the light falling onto polycrystalline silicon which is an active layer for forming polycrystalline silicon thin-film transistors (TFTs) of a liquid crystal display element and to shut off the light leaking from clearances and to prevent the degradation in display performance at a low cost without lowering the opening rate as a display device. SOLUTION: This liquid crystal display device has pixel electrodes 8 which are arranged in a matrix form on a transparent insulating substrate 18 and drive liquid crystals, the polycrystalline silicon TFTs 6 which are formed on the active layers 21 disposed in correspondence to each of the pixel electrodes 8 in order to impress voltage on the pixel electrodes 8 and amorphous silicon films 19 which are arranged via insulating films 20 under the active layers 21. As a result, the light falling on the active layers 21 are shut off and the light leaking from the clearances is shut off by the amorphous silicon films 19.</p>
