PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To miniature and simplify a slab joining device, and to perform the tack welding of a slab at high speed without deviation. SOLUTION: A rear end part of a preceding slab 1 is butted to a forward end part of succeeding slab 3 and the laser beam tack welding is performed in pressing and joining the preceding slab 1 with the succeeding slab 3. The laser beam is oscillated in a direction at right angles to the welding direction with the amplitude (a) [mm] obtained by the formula of (2×maximum deviation E[mm]-melting width (w)[mm])/2+margin Y[mm], and with the period T[sec] obtained by the formula of 4a/ 3-100)×required welding speed V0[m/min]}. |
