PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a two-piece solid golf ball which provides a high trajectory and increased carry and has all-round performance excellent in all of feeling, durability and spin characteristics even when a player which has a high head speed to some extent and fails to obtain the sufficiently high flight of a ball and long carry shots in the case of making a shot with a driver or long iron. SOLUTION: The weight of the two-piece solid golf ball formed by covering a solid core with a cover is 41 to 44.5g. The golf ball has the core having such hardness distribution that the hardness at 2mm inner than the core surface is softer by >=2 deg. than the hardness of the core surface and the hardness of the inside from the core surface by 4mm and is successively softer toward the center of the core from the side inner 4mm from the core surface when the hardness is measured by a JIS-C type hardness meter.
