PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To maximize a potential band width by forming on efficient rant fault detector that monitors a digital signal and detects positive/negative rant pulses of the digital signal so as to use a minimum number of circuit components. SOLUTION: A rant fault detector 500 is provided with a threshold level comparator 510, a complete transition detector 520, and a rant fault detector 530. The comparator 510 generates transition signals 508, 509 corresponding to the sequence of an input signal 502 in excess voltage threshold levels 504, 506. The detector 520 generates complete transition signals 528, 529 by detecting the complete transition of the signal 502 in excess of the threshold levels 504, 506. The detector 530 detects the signal 528 and when the detector 530 detects the signal 508 without detecting the signal 509, the detector 530 generates a rant fault signal 535. Furthermore, the detector 530 responds to the signals 529, 509 to detect the signal 529 and when the detector 530 detects the signal 509 without detecting the signal 508, the detector 530 generates a rant fault signal 535. |
