<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To preheat iron scraps falling in a wide range of dimensions and forms with high efficiency while avoiding a fusion. SOLUTION: A rotary kiln type preheating furnace 2 and a shaft furnace type preheating furnace 3 are provided in parallel in the preceding step of a melting furnace 1 for melting iron scraps and the scraps preheated from both the preheating furnaces are charged into the melting furnace 1. A damper 6 is provided between the shaft furnace type preheating furnace 3 and the melting furnace 1 so that exhaust gas 9 from the melting furnace 1 is prevented from directly entering the shaft furnace type preheating furnace 3 and guided to the rotatary kiln type preheating furnace 2. The exhaust gas 9 passing through the rotary kiln type preheating furnace 2 is preferably guided into the shaft furnace type preheating furnace 3 from its upper part and exhausted from its lower part. The rotary kiln type preheating furnace 2 and/or the shaft furnace type preheating furnace 3 is preferably provided with an air inlet port for burning a combustible component in the exhaust gas.</p> |
