PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To smoothly switch a screen in respective video conference terminals by multiplexing/demultiplexing video data in a multiplexed form, decoding them in a voice/video codec part and transmitting them to the video conference terminal. SOLUTION: The video data from an opposite terminal are inputted to a multiplex/demultiplex part 17 in the multiplexed form first, demultiplexed there, then passed through the voice/video codec part 14, an image switching part 12, the codec part 14 again and the demultiplex part 17 and sent to the video conference terminal. Thus, even through slight image quality degradation and delay are accompanied, the need of corresponding to an image switching method indicated in ITU-T recommendation H.243 is eliminated and the smooth changeover of the screen is provided for the respective video conference terminals. Then, in the case of sound, decoded sound data from the audio/video codec parts 14, 15 and 16 and the sound data from a microphone 10 are inputted to a sound compositing part 13 and outputted to a speaker 9 and the audio/video codec parts 14-16. At the time, the sound compositing part 13 mixes and outputs the data of three spots excluding an output destination spot. |
