The removable fastener for attaching an article to a wall comprises a longitudinally split cylinder (110) with a thread (118) over part of its length. A control button (150) comprises an insert (160) which is engaged in the cylinder. The insert can move axially in the cylinder between a position in which it allows a tightening of the cylinder split part and second position where it prevents tightening. The insert is connected to the cylinder by a driving connection which ensures torque transmission from the control piece to the cylinder and translation of it. Manipulation of the control button thus enables mounting and unmounting of the assembly. The driving connection comprises a groove (165) in the cylinder or control piece and a finger (120) fitting in the groove fixed to the other piece.
