A toy or educational device defines a surface. An element is provided which is movable with respect to the surface. Means are provided to detect a predetermined movement of the element with respect to the surface and to generate a signal. Means are provided to transfer the signal to a sound generating arrangement which is adapted to respond to the signal by generating a predetermined sound.
