The detection system includes a pre-inflated air cushion (3) provided with a pressure sensor (4) fitted in the bottom of the waste bin (1). The pressure sensor is set to a specific range of pressure values and is connected to a microprocessor (6). Further detection is provided by coils (7) fixed to the internal wall of the waste bin in order to create an electromagnetic field. These are also connected to the microprocessor (6). All the electrical system is supplied by a 9V battery, and is linked to a visible (10) and audible (9) alarm. There may also be a short wave transmitter (11) sending a signal to a portable receiver (14).
