Detection and reduction of odours at outdoor installations

The method involves taking of samples from separated points (1-4) in e.g. compost heaps (11,12), for transfer to a measuring device (5) linked to a personal computer (6) and meteorological instruments (7). Emission of odours is simulated with the aid of a microcontroller. The samples are conveyed via a conditioner to a measuring chamber equipped with sensors whose outputs represent the current pattern of odours. Weather conditions are recorded and current emissions worked out for input to the evaluation unit. When a fixed limit is exceeded, countermeasures are taken by a sprinkling system (8) with nozzles (9,10).
