Producing hydraulic emulsions for underground use in mining and tunnelling

HFA fluids (water/oil hydraulic fluid emulsions) are mixed for supply to hydraulic equipment employed in deep mining and subsurface tunnel construction. The fluids used are, e.g., hydraulic props and heading supports. The concentrate is mixed with water at levels of 0.8-1.5%. Supplied from storage to a dosing unit, it is mixed evenly with a controlled flow of water. The fluids are fed into a mixing tank, and then pumped to the emulsion storage tank. Also claimed is the corresponding plant, comprising a concentrate storage tank (2), a pump (3) and emulsion storage tank (12). The mixing unit comprises a tank (5), mixer (4) and allocated dosing unit (6) connected (8) to the concentrate pump (3). A water line (9) supplies the mixing tank, with the concentrate line (7), via parallel valves (10, 11).
