The seat has a guide element between the exit slot (3) of the belt roller mechanism and the front rest surface of the rear seat. The guide element has a trough (1) having a trough base (7) which lies in a plane within the lower half or the upper half of the rest upper edge (5). The guide element has at least a first guide edge (11) and second guide edge (13) whereby the first guide edge guides the belt over rest upper edge of the rear seat and the second guide edge guides the belt over the rest side edge (6) of the rear seat. A third guide edge (15) guides the belt along the rest side edge and a fourth guide edge (17) guides the belt under the trough. The guide element is provided as a self contained part made from plastics or metal and is arranged between the rear seat rest and the side covering.
