A process for forming a rounded edge during bending of a plastic plate (1) comprises creating a flat groove (11) with a width corresponding to the length of the rounded edge (5) on the inner side of the plate and a bar-shaped core (2) is produced with a rounded section (21) similar to that of the edge (5). The heated plastic plate (1) is bent around the core (2) with the groove (11) facing the core, and the core and plate are permanently joined together to create a single component. The plastic plate has a core (2) permanently attached to the grooved inner side.
