PURPOSE:To obtain a thermal recording material having high sensitivity and improved in the preservability of a white part and a printed part at the time of keeping at high temp. and imparting good printing quality by adding a specific electron donating leuco dye and a hydrolysate of an olefin/maleic anhydride copolymer to a thermal recording layer. CONSTITUTION:A thermal color forming layer containing an electron donating leuco dye and an electron acceptive compound is provided on a support and 2-anilino-3- methyl-6-dibutylaminofluorane is added to the thermal color forming layer and a hydrolysate of an olefin/maleic anhydride copolymer with an MW of 5000 or less is further added in an amount of 5% or more by wt. of said layer. The electron donating leuco dye, the electron acceptive compound and a sensitizer are dispersed along with an aqueous solution of a water-soluble polymer such as polyvinyl alcohol using a ball mill or a sand mill so as to obtain a particle size of severalmum or less. The hydrolysate of the olefin/maleic anhydride copolymer is added to either one of or both of the electron donating leuco dye and the electron acceptive compound to be dispersed therein or added to a thermal coating solution. The obtained thermal coating solution is applied to fine paper, synthetic paper or a plastic film and, after dying, smoothness is imparted to the coating layer by calender treatment. |
