PURPOSE:To control the generation of heat efficiently and prevent the failure or breakdown of a printing head due to heat generation by designating a desired time using a pause control means when the printing head is in a thermal alarm state and thereby adding a pause action to a line feed action. CONSTITUTION:A main control section 2 allows a printing control section 3 to perform the divided printing based on a signal from a three-division control mean 31, if a thermal alarm for a printing head 1 which is checked by a temperature sensor 1 is sounded. However, if the thermal alarm state is not yet restored to normal, a desired time is to be designated by a pause control means 32, and a pause action is added to a line feed mechanism 51 through a line feed control section 5 to pause energization for printing temporarily. This controls the calorific value of generated heat. Thus, the calorific value of generated heat can be effectively reduced by the joint application of divided printing and pause control techniques. Subsequently, the failure or breakdown due to the heating of the printing head can be prevented. |
