PURPOSE:To eliminate the unequal colors at the time of oscillation, and to eliminate negative to positive reversing regions as well as to improve visual angle characteristics by specifying the rubbing directions of oriented films and the transmission axis directions of polarizing plates and providing a cell installation angle adjusting mechanism. CONSTITUTION:The oriented films of substrates are rubbed from upper right to lower left or vice versa. The 1st polarizing plate the transmission axis of which is set in the region I counterclockwise 45 deg. from the rubbing direction and the 2nd polarizing plate the transmission axis of which is set in the region II counterclockwise 45 deg. from the direction orthogonal with the rubbing direction are provided. In addition, the horizontal angle adjusting mechanism 3 of the liquid crystal cell is provided. As a result, the generation of the unequal colors at the time of the oscillation by the diagonal rubbing is suppressed in this way. The white which is always bluish in the white state can be so controlled as to come to the user side at all times by specifying the setting of the transmission axis. The negative to positive reversing regions at the right and left visual angles are thus eliminated. The angle of the reversing region is adjustable by the mechanism 3. |
