<p>The cover tear-seam transition comprises a panel (10) with a surrounding edge, an exposed front surface and a hidden rear surface. The panel comprises at least one locking device (22) which retains the cover in a module, e.g. steering-wheel or dashboard. The cover transition further comprises a primary tear-seam (30) and two transition openings (32,34) which extend through one locking device at a juncture. There are also two secondary tear-seams, defined by the rear surface of the panel, which pass through the transition openings. Under the force of an expanding air-bag the primary tear-seam ruptures, this transfers the force to the secondary tear-seams. The secondary tear-seams then rupture, this second rupture defines an air-bag releasing door in the panel.</p> |
