PURPOSE:To cover a butt end surface of wood with a surface material in proper quantities by a method wherein a pair of pinch rolls are mounted on separated members so that one of them is brought to a movable state and the axis of one roll is inclined with respect to that of the other roll to widen the gap between the rolls as both rolls are separated from a base plate. CONSTITUTION:A pinch roll 4 is fixed to a base plate 1 in an erected state and a pinch roll 3 is fixed to a the support lever 5 revolving along the base plate 1. The support lever 5 is pivotally mounted on the base plate 1 at one end thereof by a bolt 6 and the other end thereof is pressed to the roll 4 by a spring 8 and the roll 3 is always in close contact with the roll 4 by definite force. The surface of the roll 3 is slightly inclined with respect to that of the roll 4 to form a gap 9, which becomes gradually large as the rolls get away from the base plate 1, between the rolls 3, 4. When a surface material is inserted between the pinch rolls 3, 4 along a base panel 21, the surface material advances so that the lower edge thereof is always in contact with a passage plate 14. When the cut end surface of a plate material is turned to the surface material and the rear of the said surface material turned to the butt end surface is made adhesive, the surface material can be accurately and closely bonded to the butt end surface by press rolls 2, 2. |
