PURPOSE:To attain highly efficient video packet communication by implementing the transmission start and transmission stop of video information intermittently selectively as required while holding a logical path. CONSTITUTION:A transmission section 7 and a reception section 11 in the presence of a call setting request sets a logical path with each other by using a predetermined protocol. An output of a coder 6 is converted into a signal form suitable for a transmission line 10 at the transmission section 7 and sent to the reception section 11 via a logical path set by the transmission line 10 based on the communication protocol. Only when an output of a video signal transmission control section 8 is ON, the output of the coder G is sent to the transmission line 10 via the transmission section 7, and when the output is OFF, the output of the coder 6 is not sent to the transmission line 10. Thus, the efficiency of the video packet communication is improved. |
