Apparatus for the biological purification of water

Appts. for purifying water biologically, comprises a treatment vessel (1) contg. a floating particle filter bed (3) under a sieve roof (2) separating the bed from purified water above. A supply line introduces raw water below the bed. In this line there is a water jet pump which removes bed material to rinse it. A vertical supply pipe (5) beneath the sieve (2), terminates below the bed. It has a narrowing part (6) with an injection nozzle (7) just ahead of it, forming the jet pump.
