<p>A carrying bag (10,40,70) comprises at least one extensible panel (20,46,76) that forms at least a part of the external walls of the bag (10,40,70). The extensible panel (20,46,76) is a composite material composed of a sheet of a stretch-knit fabric (22) and a multiplicity of elongated strips (24) of a durable, substantially non-extensible material joined to the fabric sheet (22) in closely spaced relation by stitching (26,78) located proximate to the longitudinal centers of the strips (24), thereby leaving portions of the fabric sheet (22) underlying the major portions of the strips (24) free to stretch. <IMAGE></p> |
