PURPOSE: To provide an alloy capable of combining long life with high electric capacity at the time of use, e.g., as a material for nickel-hydrogen secondary battery negative pole. CONSTITUTION: An AB5 -type, age precipitation type rare earth metal - nickel alloy having a composition represented by formula A(Mx Ni1-x )5+y (where A means La, Ce, Pr, and Nd and M means Co, Al, Mn, Fe, Cu, Zr, Ti, Mo, W, and B and 0.01<=x<=0.5 and -0.45<=y<=0.45 are satisfied) and also having precipitated phases of 0.005-50μm average grain size, its production, and a nickel- hydrogen secondary battery negative pole containing the rare earth metal - nickel alloy and a conducting agent as negative pole materials can be provided. |
