PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a β-alumina sintered compact having high strength and high reliability and suitable for use as a solid electrolyte tube used for an Na-S cell, etc. SOLUTION: This β-alumina sintered compact contains 2-10wt.% (expressed in terms of oxide) Zr and 0.1-2wt.% (expressed in terms of oxide) Ti or further contains Li as a stabilizer. It is produced by compacting and firing a powdery mixture consisting of 2-10wt.% zirconium oxide powder, 0.1-2wt.% titanium oxide powder and the balance β-alumina powder. |
