LABELING SYSTEM AND METHOD OF ELECTRONIC PRICE INDICATION LABEL

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a labeling system and method by which labels are put on electronic price indication label(EPL) tags. SOLUTION: A customers data file(CDF) is provided with records (batch records) including record numbers corresponding to commodity descriptions. The labels are printed at every CDF record one by one and automatically stuck to the EPL tags in series. Its record number is shown on the label in a bar code system. The bar code for the record number and the bar code for the serial number put on tags are automatically read. The CDF is renewed to relate to respective record numbers and the serial numbers. An optical scanner is provided to detect unreadable bar codes, missticking labels, and defects of display. A record number without a serial number corresponding to CDF is specified and complementary records are prepared. The complementary batch record is printed repeatedly and used for the subsequent treatments.
