<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To form a thermal head capable of being miniaturized and made inexpensive. SOLUTION: The thermal head 11 includes a driving IC12 for driving a plurality of heat elements R1-Rn. The driving IC12 includes a shift register 17 for transferring in serial printing data in terms of clock signals, a latch circuit 16 for accommodating printing data transferred to the shift register 17 on the basis of the latch signals, a plurality of gate circuits G1-Gn to be inputted in a divided manner of M pieces (M is a natural number of 1 or more) with output from one latch circuit 16 and for selectively opening closing output from the latch circuit based on the strobing signals of M pieces, and switching elements T1-Tn for controlling electrification of each heating element based on the output from the gate circuit G1-Gn. In addition, the thermal head 11 has a clock control circuit 20a for extracting clock signals from the exterior at a period of the M pieces and for supplying them to the shift register, thereby printing one printing line by time division driving at M times.</p> |
