PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain colored alumina ceramics having high ornamental property and superior wear resistance. SOLUTION: This ornamental member is made of alumina ceramics based on alumina and contg. <=0.2wt.% magnesium oxide and/or silicon oxide and 0.005-0.1wt.% one or more kinds of metals selected from among Co, Ni, Cr, Mn and V as coloring components. The intensity ratio (I/I0 ) of the 1st peak intensity (I) of crystals of oxides of the coloring components to the 1st peak intensity (I0 ) of alumina crystals in the sintered compact is <0.02. |
