摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make the detection sensitivity or response performance to be constant and improve the detection accuracy of angular velocity without special circuit in case where a shell type vibrator is applied to a vibration gyro. SOLUTION: A shell type vibrator 101 has a center on a Z axis of an XYZ rectangular coordinate system, and it is resonated through extension and contraction as main vibration and sub vibration in respective modes in two directions crossing orthogonally each other on an XY plane and in two directions displaced by an angle of π/4rad. from the respective directions. After required resonant direction is set to be θ=0rad. around the Z axis, the vibrator 101 is subjected to cutting in at least one direction of nπ/2rad. and (π4+nπ/2)rad. around the Z axis or in the adjacent part thereof, and a difference between the resonant frequencies in two modes is obtained as a specified value. At the same time, the vibrator 101 is subjected to cutting in at least one direction of (-π/8+n/2)rad. and (π/8+nπ/2)rad. around the Z axis or in the adjacent part thereof, and the resonant vibration direction in such a mode for at least main vibration of two vibration modes is changed to the specified direction.
