A magneto-optical recording medium has magnetic multi-layers including a reproductive layer, which is a magnetic layer having perpendicular magnetic anisotropy, for reading out magneto-optically recorded information and a recording layer, which is a magnetic layer having perpendicular magnetic anisotropy, for magneto-optically recording information. In the magneto-optical recording medium, the following conditions are fulfilled: HC1(ta)+ sigma w(ta)/2MS1(ta)h1 <-HC1(t)+ sigma w(t)/2MS1(t)h1, and 40(nm)</=h1</=120(nm) where h1 is the thickness of the reproductive layer, HC1(ta) is coercive force of the reproductive layer at room temperature (ta), MS1(ta) is saturation magnetization of the reproductive layer, MS2(ta) is saturation magnetization of the recording layer, sigma w(ta) is magnetic domain wall energy of the magnetic domain wall formed between said reproductive layer and the recording layer, HC1(t) is coercive force of the reproductive layer at a temperature (t) of not lower than a certain temperature (tm) that is higher than room temperature, MS1(t) is saturation magnetization of the reproductive layer, MS2(t) is saturation magnetization of the recording layer, and sigma w(t) is magnetic domain wall energy of the magnetic domain wall formed between the reproductive layer and the recording layer.
