PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an aqueous emulsion containing a specific silane compound, water and an emulsifier, having stable emulsion state over long period and useful as an aqueous type permeable water-absorbing material for porous inorganic building materials such as concrete. SOLUTION: This aqueous emulsion contains (A) an alkylalkoxysilane having 2-10μm liquid drop diameter (e.g. a 6-20C alkyltriethoxysilane, concretely hexyltriethoxysilane or eicosyltriethoxysilane), (B) water and (C) an emulsifier [e.g. a mixture of an anionic emulsifier (C1 ) with a nonionic emulsifier (C2 ) and containing 0.01-20wt.% component C1 based on total amount of the components C1 and C2 ] and contains preferably the component A in an amount of 5-70wt.% based on total amount of emulsion and the component C in an amount of 0.1-50wt.% based on the component A.
