<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a mixture of aluminum oxide and aluminum nitride capable of being sufficiently used as a refractory heating an aluminum residual ash, etc., at a specified temp. in a nitriding atmosphere and changing the metallic aluminum contained in the ash into aluminum nitride. SOLUTION: An aluminum residual ash and/or aluminum product machinings (preferably having <=1mm grain size) are packed in a furnace and heated at >=700 deg.C in a nitriding atmosphere (atmosphere contg. nitrogen and/or ammonia) to change the metallic aluminum into aluminum nitride. Consequently a mixture of aluminum oxide and aluminum nitride is obtained, and the mixture highly resistant to molten slag and molten metal is used as the refractory material.</p> |
