PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for accurately and simply measuring activity of telomerase (DNA polymerase) contained in tissue and blood, much more excellent in measurement sensitivity and accuracy in comparison with an existing TRAP assay, applicable to a quick screening system in a large amount. SOLUTION: This method for measuring telomerase activity comprises (A) elongating a DNA sequence comprising repetition of telomere repeating unit TTAGGG by telomerase by using a telomerase prolonging primer containing a 3' side synthesis starting sequence composed of a repeated sequence of the telomere repeating unit except a 5' side tag sequence 1 and TTAGGG to the 3' end of the primer to prepare a telomerase product and (B) amplifying the telomerase product by PCR using the telomerase elongating primer and a primer containing a 3' side DNA sequence comprising a 5' side tag sequence 2 having no complementarity to the tag sequence-1 and repetition of complementary sequence CCCTAA of a telomere repeating unit. |
