PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To adjust the printing gap distance between a recording medium and a cartridge and to change the printing gap distance to the optimum value on every cartridge with different design. SOLUTION: This ink-jet printer is provided with a cartridge 14 supported by a carrier 12 and the cartridge 14 is provided with a pushing member for adjusting the gap distance between a plurality of ink-jet nozzles in the cartridge 14 and the surface of a paper sheet for receiving a jetted ink. The pushing member is biassed by a spring and is freely slidably fitted on a carrier 12 for moving approximately in the normal direction of the surface of the paper. A surface constitution changing in accordance with the optimum gap distance between the nozzle and the paper for the best quality of printing is provided on the cartridge 14. |
