PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain such an oxidation catalyst for a minute amt. of aldehyde in a combustion gas that shows excellent oxidation performance even when the amt. of aldehyde in various kinds of combustion exhaust gas is small, and that can effectively oxidize and remove the small amt. of aldehyde in the gas and deodorize the gas, by incorporating manganese dioxide and copper (II) oxide as the main component. SOLUTION: This oxidation catalyst is used to oxidize a small amt. of aldehyde in combustion exhaust gas containing a small amt. of aldehyde which is discharged at about <=240 deg.C from a GHP system, cogeneration system or gas fan heater system which uses fuels such as city gas. This catalyst contains manganese dioxide and copper (II) oxide as the main component. This method is effective when the catalyst contains manganese and copper by about 83:17 to about 60:40 weight ratio, and preferably about 75:25 to about 65:35, and more preferably about 73:27 to about 68:32. |
