A mechanical transmission with ratios continuously variable from infinity to 1/1, comprising a drive shaft (5) and a driven shaft (6) coaxial therewith, a drive plate (3) secured to the drive shaft (5) and provided with first pivots (2) uniformly angularly distributed around a circle centred on the drive shaft (5), and hinged to weights (1) thereon, whereby any difference in rotation speeds between the driven shaft (6) and the drive shaft (5) causes an angular deflection of the weights (1) about the pivots (2) thereof, such that their centres of gravity are radially shifted relative to the drive shaft, causing a change in the kinetic energy of the weights (1) and a consequent increase in the torque transmitted to the driven shaft, and control rods (14) of constant length attached at one end to respective second pivots (13) that move together with the weights (1) when the latter are angularly deflected, and at the other end to respective third pivots (10) that are hingedly connected to the crankpin (6) of a central crankshaft (8) forming the driven shaft (6), whereby said angular deflection of the weights (1) is achieved. A resilient blade (11) is attached at one end to the front portion of each weight (1) and hinged at the other end to the second pivot (13) on the control rod (14), such that a connection is provided between the weight (1) and the control rod (14).
