The bolt, designed to be fitted into a door edge recess, consists of a cover (12), the sliding bolt (14) and a spring strip (16) to keep the bolt pressed against the cover. The bolt has an end projection (27) for operating it which is situated in the lengthwise extension of the cover for any bolt position. The bolt projection is more or less the same width as the bolt, which has a lengthwise slot (28) for fixing screws inserted through the cover. In addition, the spring strip has a bend (38) which indicates when the bolt is in its extended position, and is attached to the cover by a river (29) passing through the bolt slot.
