A method and a device for continuously producing compact multilayer paperboard sheets at high production rates and at a particularly competitive cost. The production device (10) comprises at least three mutually aligned feed rollers (11, 21, 31, 41) that each support a roll (11a, 21a) of a paper web (12, 22, 32, 42), and means for stacking and coating (13, 23, 33) the webs with an adhesive, urging them together and pressing (14, 24, 34) them. Said device comprises preheating means (71-75) for preheating each paper web (12, 22, 32, 42) prior to coating, accelerated adhesive drying means (16, 17, 26, 27, 36, 37) for generating a heat flow after the webs have been stacked and pressed following the coating step, sensing means (80, 81, 82) for sensing the residual moisture content in the bonded webs, means for adjusting the heat flow depending on the moisture content so that uniform drying is achieved, and impregnating means (43, 44, 43', 44') for impregnating at least one side of the first (12) and last (42) paper webs with a waterproofing substance. The method and device are suitable for use with any kind of paperboard packaging, particularly for food, and for replacing products containing wood, polystyrene or other synthetic materials. |
