Anti-theft protection system for motor vehicles

The system contains at least one controller which enables the vehicle to be started and at least one theft protection unit which receives an encoded signal and compares it with a demanded code signal. If the signals coincide the unit passes a control signal to the one or more control devices for starting the vehicle, via a control key which transmits the encoded signal to start the vehicle. A system key transmits an encoded release signal within a certain time which enables the start actions by the control key to proceed; the control device required for operation is deactivated if the release signal is absent after the given period.
