The grinder assembly, for dry materials, has a paddle wheel (11) rotating at a high speed, to generate a high-speed radial air and/or gas flow. The cylindrical housing (10) has at least one wall section (10.1) with a grinding surface (15) on the inner side, and at least one wall section (10.2) with a sieve insert (16), for finely-ground material to pass through into the collection zone (17). The grinding surface may be of stone, rippled steel or is diamond-studded. The cylindrical housing may rotate against the direction of the paddle wheel.
