Production of fibrous cellulose@ material free from other plant components

Fibrous cellulose material (I) is obtained from fibrous plant material, e.g. hay, straw, rushes, sugar cane, elephant grass, sedges, hemp, sisal etc. by (1) crushing the plant material; (2) mixing it with 0.5-1% aqueous sodium hydroxide (NaOH) solution and leaving for 15-45 minutes; (3) sieving; (4) passing the sieved material to an extruder, where it is mixed with water and hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) at 120-150 deg C and about 20 bar; (5) sieving the mixture leaving the extruder and washing it with water at least once.
