A spliced conveyer belt assembly which includes a belt having first and second belt ends (14), a load carrying ply (15) which is coextensive with the full length of the belt, first and second reinforcing plies (16) spaced from the load carrying ply (15), the first and second reinforcing plies (16) being disposed adjacent the first and second belt ends (14), respectively, and a hinged joint (30) having a plurality of first belt end fasteners (22) and second belt end fasteners (22), wherein each belt end fastener (22) includes first and second apertured plates (26, 27) disposed respectively adjacent to the respective sides of the belt at the respective first and second belt ends (14), and a bight (24) capable of connecting the first apertured plate (26) to the second apertured plate (27), at least one securing device (28) which is capable of extending through the apertures in the first and second apertured plates and through the belt and a hinge pin (31) extending through the bights (24) of the first and second belt end fasteners (22).
