Piston and rod connecting rod joint for internal combustion engine

A sector (11) of the cylinder component is integrated materially with the connecting rod (12), pivots in a bearing (6,7) and is releasably screwed to the second sector (16). This is designed as an adaptor screw having a stepped guide part (20) and a ring base part (21) bearing on the ring base (23) of rod. Sector is waisted (13) between part (29) and thread-way (14) to form an expansion area. The piston (2) opening (10) extends round 180 degrees of the recess (3) and enables the connecting rod to be threaded into place. The piston is slotted in one of its holding eyelets (8,9) to allow the rod to be fitted to complete the joint. Additional components include an adaptor (15) whose endface (18) is received (19) for tool engagement as used in assembly and joint completion.
