A rechargeable timepiece having a charge inhibiting device which works only when its hands rotate in the reverse direction so that the timepiece cannot be charged by means of a charger while the hands rotate in the reverse direction, whereas in the conventional timepiece the power supply voltage fluctuates and the hands do not rotate accurately in the reverse direction if hands are rotated during charging.
