The advertising display (1) incorporates a poster (15) which may be rolled up on a spindle (16). The spindle with the rolled-up poster may be loaded into a compartment in the side of the frame (3) of the advertising display. It may be loaded from below, and is pushed upward inside a lid (7) at the side which swings outwards on a hinge (8) at the top. When the lid is in its closed position, the edge of the poster may be grasped by some sort of gripping device and pulled to unwind the poster. The frame of the display holds a transparent glass or plastics window (2) behind which the unrolled poster is visible.
