A long size composite material (1) suitable for decorative members of vehicles comprises a long size molded material (2) having a common cross section portion (2b), of which a cross sectional shape is substantially constant in a longitudinal direction, and a varying cross section portion (2a), of which a cross sectional shape varies in a longitudinal direction, and a resin portion (3) continuously extending in a longitudinal direction is extrusion molded onto the varying cross section portion (2a) to provide an excellent appearance which is integrated as a whole. In order to readily and continously manufacture such a long size composite material (1) with an extrusion molding technique, the long size molded material (2) is continously fed to an extrusion mold (26), which is provided with a stationary mold (31) and a movable mold (32), in a longitudinal direction to pass in the longitudinal direction with the common cross section portion (2b) corresponding to the stationary mold (31) and the varying cross section portion (2a) corresponding to the movable mold (32). Further, while moving the movable mold (32) in a direction crossing a direction, in which the long size molded material (2) passes and in which the varying cross sectional portion (2a) varies, in keeping with the passage of the varying cross section portion (2a) in the longitudinal direction, resin is extruded from an extrusion port formed in the movable mold (32) to integrally mold the longitudinally extending resin portion (3) with the long size molded material (2). |
