<p>A depth-insensitive concrete anchor fastener (110) for insertion into a pre-drilled hole in and for fixing fastening objects to a concrete substructure, comprises: a tip portion (122); a head portion (124); and a shank portion (116) interconnecting the tip (122) and head portions (124). The shank portion (116) comprises a first portion (132) commencing immediately adjacent said head portion (124), extending axially towards said tip portion (122), and having a first predetermined diametrical extent which is less than that of said pre-drilled hole within said concrete substructure. The shank portion comprises a second ribbed portion (130) interposed between said first shank portion (132) and said tip portion (122), the second ribbed portion (130) having a circumferential array of substantially axially extending rib means (128), integrally formed upon and from the material of said second shank portion (130) and has a second predetermined diametrical extent which is greater than said first predetermined diametrical extent and that of the pre-drilled hole in said concrete substructure, and has an axial extent which is only a fractional portion of the axial extent of said shank portion (116). The shank portion (116), permits axial insertion of said anchor fastener (110) within said pre-drilled hole in said concrete substructure in a substantially linear, impact-driven manner with an interference fit defined between said anchor fastener (110) and the bore-hole only along said axial extent of said second ribbed portion (130) to render said anchor fastener (110), depth-insensitive regardless of the depth to which said anchor fastener (110) is driven. <IMAGE></p> |
