<p>PURPOSE: To stabilize liquid crystal orientation in respective divided regions and to make good display by setting at least a part of boundary of orientation treatment sections in at least either between gate bus lines and pixel electrodes and between drain bus lines and the pixel electrodes. CONSTITUTION: The boundary lines 22 between the regions A and the regions B are straight lines parallel with the extending direction of the gate bus lines 55 and are set in the positions crossing nearly the central parts of the respective pixel electrodes 71 and the prosition between the respective pixie electrodes 71 and gate bus lines 55 connected with the active elements 54 for driving the pixel electrodes. Since the boundaries 22 of the orientation treatment sections are set between the gate bus lines 55 and the pixel electrodes 71, the directions of the electric fields acting on the liquid crystal layer are aligned to the pretilt direction and the disclinations 23 generated at the boundaries in the liquid crystal orientation sections are fixed to the prescribed positions, i.e., between the pixel electrodes 71 and the gate bus lines 55. The protrusion of the disclinations 23 into the apertures of the pixels does not arise and the screen unform over the entire surface is obtd.</p> |
