PURPOSE:To produce a high-quality foam molding from a waste PS resin foam molding easily without consuming a large amt. of energy by crushing the waste molding and specifically treating the resulting resin foam granules. CONSTITUTION:Resin foam granules obtd. by crushing a waste PS resin (e.g. PS) foam molding are impregnated with an inorg. gas (e.g. air) under pressure at a temp. not allowing the fusion between the granules and thereby caused to contain the gas in an amt. of at least 0.5mol/kg-resin. The granules are then put into a mold under compression with a pressurized gas in such a way that the apparent volume of the granules after put into the mold reaches 70% or lower of the original apparent volume. Then, steam at a temp. 10-30 deg.C higher than the Vicat softening point of the resin is introduced into the mold to cause the thermal fusion between the granules, giving a foam molding.
