PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a document editing apparatus shortened in printing time by providing a means storing printing data and a means changing over a printing method according to the designated printing number of sheets. SOLUTION: A display control part 52 writes the display data only of the part capable of being developed on a display area in a frame memory for displaying the display data on a display device 2 on the basis of the display demand of a character or figure from a document printing part 55 in a dot unit. A data memory control part 53 performs the data reading/writing control with a memory device 3 such as a semiconductor memory or a floppy disk device. A document editing part 54 forms text data or the like to store edited data in the memory device 3 through the data memory control part 53. A document printing part 55 is constituted of a development control part 551 controlling the whole of the printing of a designated document to form the development data of a character or figure and a printing control part 552 controlling the sending-out of development data or a printing demand.
